Uses and advantages of our test
Pig-MAP, also known as ITIH4, is one of the main porcine acute-phase proteins and represents an excellent biomarker of inflammation and distress in this species. Measuring pig-MAP enables detection of health problems and poor welfare on farms, and quantification of stress or inflammation in experimental studies; for example, drug or nutraceutical trials. Turbovet pig-MAP is the first commercially available test for measuring pig-MAP based on turbidimetry. Precise and reliable results are obtained in a few minutes, and analysis can be fully automated with any open chemistry analyzer, significantly reducing required time and costs. The reagents are very stable, and frequent calibration of the equipment is not necessary. Turbovet is an ideal analytical tool for quality control in production systems, animal-welfare certification, or for studies that require highly reliable and reproducible data.
TECHNICAL DATA
• Species-specific.
• Automatic: Can be run in any open clinical chemistry analyzer.
• Working range: 0-5 mg/mL.
• Assay time: 5 minutes.
• Reagents: ready to use and very stable.
• Free of interference by hemoglobin (20g/L), bilirubin (0.15 g/L) of triglycerides< <4 g/L.
• Sample type: serum
ANALYTICAL PRINCIPLE:
Quantification by immunoturbidimetry. Pig-MAP from serum reacts with specific antibodies to form immunoaggregates. This causes an increase in turbidity in the reaction medium. The increase in turbidity is determined by photometric measurement and is proportional to pig-MAP concentration in the sample.
STANDARDIZATION:
The assay is calibrated with a porcine-specific standard, according to the European Reference Serum for Acute phase proteins (EU concerted Action QLK5-CT-1999-0153).
VALIDATION:
Validated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona according to CLSI and SEQC guidelines.
