A total of 60 animals were included in the study, 20 healthy and 40 with subclinical mastitis caused by Streptococcus spp (STR group, 20 cows) or coagulase-negative Staphylococcus spp (CNS group, 20 cows). 100% of STR animals and 89% of CNS animals had serum levels of ITIH4 above the reference value. The concentration of ITIH4 also increased significantly in the milk of cows with mastitis compared to the healthy group. Mean values were similar for the SRT and CNS groups.
